About the Role We are a warm, loving family seeking an exceptional Adventure Nanny & Early Childhood Educator for our nearly 3-year-old daughter.
Both parents work together as executives and travel extensively, typically ~15 days per month. We want our daughter to experience the world alongside us without sacrificing the consistency, education, and nurturing environment she'd have at home, and while allowing us to still work.
We're looking for an exceptional early-childhood educator excited by the opportunity to give one child a highly personalized education while seeing the world.
You'll be both caregiver and educator: keeping her safe and loved while turning everyday life and travel into opportunities for learning, exploration, independence, and growth. I n your downtime from travel and occasionally during travel, you’ll help the family with typical personal assistant (PA) work like booking appointments, coordinating travel for the family, and miscellaneous personal admin tasks.
What You'll Do - Serve as primary caregiver and educator while traveling with our family, typically ~15 days/month
- Create thoughtful, age-appropriate learning experiences through reading, conversation, play, museums, nature, art, and exploration
- Support her cognitive, language, social-emotional, and physical development
- Encourage independence, curiosity, confidence, kindness, and responsibility
- Maintain consistent routines and expectations across locations
- Own her daily care, including meals/snacks, bath time, dressing, bedtime, and activities
- Pack and organize her clothing, toys, books, and belongings for travel
- Safely, calmly, & confidently navigate airports, hotels, unfamiliar cities, schedule changes, and long travel days with a young child
- Keep her spaces and belongings organized and tidy
- Communicate proactively with us about her development, activities, and needs
- Complete personal admin tasks such as: travel booking, coordinating house and car maintenance, ordering gifts, scheduling appointments, planning extra curricular activities, etc.
While this is not a general housekeeping role; responsibilities outside of childcare extend to PA work.
How We Parent Our goal is to raise an independent, confident, curious, kind, respectful, and responsible person.
We believe in:
- Independence: Let her try, struggle, solve problems, and learn from mistakes.
- Curiosity: Learn through reading, conversation, exploration, and play.
- Kindness & respect: Model calm, respectful behavior toward people, animals, and her environment.
- Responsibility: Teach her to help, contribute, clean up, and care for her things.
- Firm but kind boundaries: We use natural consequences and calm explanations, not yelling, shaming, spanking, or other harsh punishments.
- Consistency: Maintain aligned routines and expectations across caregivers and locations.
Our approach draws from positive discipline, Montessori principles, socioemotional learning, and pragmatic, evidence-based parenting.
Who We're Looking For You combine the expertise of an exceptional early-childhood educator with the judgment, flexibility, warmth, and stamina to travel extensively with a young family. You have good judgement, organization, and communication skills when it comes to handling personal tasks, and regard it with the utmost discretion.
- Bachelor's or Master's in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Strong academic record
- 2+ years professional experience with toddlers/preschoolers
- Deep understanding of ages 3–5
- Warm, patient, calm, and emotionally steady
- Highly organized, proactive, resourceful, and adaptable
- Exceptional spoken English and ability to model rich language
- Reliable, punctual, discreet, and respectful of family privacy
- Genuine love of travel and comfortable with frequent schedule changes
- Valid passport and ability to travel internationally
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Comfortable around dogs
- CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain
- Excellent professional and/or academic references
- Based in Charleston or willing to relocate
Bonus: experience at an exceptional preschool or Montessori/Reggio Emilia environment; professional travel with children; strong swimmer/water safety experience.
Schedule & Travel This isn't a traditional Monday–Friday role. Flexibility is essential, but the tradeoff is significant time off.
We typically travel ~15 days per month. You'll work and travel with us during those periods; when you're not scheduled with us, you will be given light PA work, around ~10-15 hours per non-travel week.
Our schedule can change, but we typically provide 5+ days' notice of travel and often more.
Expect:
- ~15 working/travel days per month
- ~10-15 hours of PA work per non-travel week, < 1 hour typically while traveling
- Occasional additional travel to meet the family
- Transit days of up to 12–16 hours
- Typical travel workdays of ~10–12 hours
- Frequent domestic and international travel, including Charleston, NYC, San Francisco, London, and beyond
- All reasonable travel expenses covered
- Private accommodations while traveling
Compensation & Benefits - $65k-$80k annual salary
- All (reasonable) travel expenses covered
- Private accommodations during travel
What It's Like to Be Part of Our Family We value kindness, privacy, calm, punctuality, reliability, and mutual respect. Our careers move quickly and our travel can be dynamic, so we need someone we trust completely.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who genuinely loves spending time with our daughter, takes pride in helping her grow, and sees traveling the world with her as an adventure.
