Perform refractory installation, repair, relining, and maintenance activities according to supervisor instructions, standard drawings, and approved procedures.
Inspect and prepare refractory machines, equipment, tools, and materials before starting refractory work to ensure safe and effective operation.
Handle refractory-related equipment including EAF shells, EAF deltas, ladles, tundishes, covers, and ancillary units received from production/operations.
Carry out demolition and cleaning of used refractory linings , including removal of refractory material, dust, slag, and steel skulls before repair or relining.
Install and repair refractory linings using appropriate refractory bricks, castables, and other refractory materials according to specified designs and standards.
Coordinate with production and maintenance teams, maintain accurate operational records, and ensure proper shift handover , while following all safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
Requirements
Technical Diploma or Higher Secondary Education from a recognized institution.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a Steel Making Plant , preferably in refractory operations, maintenance, or a similar role .
Hands-on experience with refractory demolition, installation, repair, relining, brickwork, and castable application .
Practical knowledge of refractory systems associated with EAFs, ladles, tundishes, EAF deltas, covers, and related steel-making equipment .
Good understanding of plant/process parameters, refractory materials, equipment inspection, safety, environmental, and quality standards , with basic mathematical and computer skills.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills , with the ability to work independently or as part of a team under pressure and in environments involving heat, dust, heights, and gases .
