Business Development Engineer

A reputed civil construction and contracting company is looking for a proactive and commercially driven Sales Engineer / Business Development Engineer to generate new business opportunities and support the growth of residential and industrial construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the construction market, client acquisition, tendering processes, project costing, and relationship management with consultants, developers, contractors, and industrial clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities for residential, commercial, and industrial civil construction projects.
• Build and maintain relationships with property developers, consultants, architects, project managers, main contractors, subcontractors, and direct clients.
• Generate leads through market research, site visits, networking, referrals, and regular engagement with potential clients.
• Review project requirements, drawings, BOQs, specifications, and tender documents in coordination with the estimation and technical teams.
• Prepare and submit commercial proposals, quotations, prequalification documents, technical submissions, and tender responses.
• Coordinate with internal estimation, procurement, engineering, and project teams to ensure accurate pricing, feasible project scopes, and timely proposal submissions.
• Conduct client meetings, project presentations, and negotiations to secure new contracts and close business opportunities.
• Follow up on submitted quotations, tenders, and proposals until award or closure.
• Maintain an updated sales pipeline, opportunity tracker, client database, and regular business-development reports.
• Monitor construction-market trends, upcoming developments, competitor activities, and project opportunities across the residential and industrial sectors.
• Support contract negotiations, commercial discussions, and project handover to the operations team after award.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in business development, sales engineering, tendering, or client acquisition within civil construction, building contracting.
• Exposure to residential villas, apartment buildings, warehouses, factories, industrial facilities, commercial buildingspreferred.
• Good understanding of construction drawings, BOQs, specifications, estimation, tendering, and quotation preparation.
• Ability to build strong professional relationships with developers, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.
• Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and commercial skills.
• Target-driven, self-motivated, and capable of independently generating and converting leads.
• Experience in the UAE/GCC construction market will be an advantage.
• Valid UAE driving licence is preferred.
