The role will inspect and monitor civil, marine, waterfront, and associated infrastructure construction, with particular focus on quay walls, jetties, breakwaters, revetments, dredging, reclamation, roads, utilities, drainage, and related coastal works. Working with Surveyors, Inspectors, Assistant Resident Engineers, Material Engineers, and the wider construction team, the inspector will verify that works meet approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, quality requirements, and applicable standards.

What You 'll Be Doing
- Inspect and monitor civil and marine construction activities across assigned project areas.
- Inspect quay walls, jetties, breakwaters, revetments, quay decks, pontoons, and other marine structures.
- Monitor dredging, reclamation, and marine ground improvement activities.
- Inspect roads, utilities, drainage, earthworks, and associated infrastructure within marine, port, and coastal areas.
- Verify construction against approved drawings, method statements, Inspection and Test Plans, project specifications, and relevant standards.
- Inspect formwork, reinforcement, concrete, blockwork, structural steel, piling, and waterfront structural elements.
- Check line, level, dimensions, workmanship, and technical compliance of completed and ongoing works.
- Coordinate with Surveyors to verify setting-out, levels, and alignments for marine and coastal structures.
- Maintain close coordination with the Assistant Resident Engineer and Resident Engineer throughout construction.
Marine Construction Inspection
The inspector will provide site surveillance across permanent and temporary marine works, including sheet piles, cofferdams, shoring, scaffolding, access platforms, and other temporary arrangements associated with coastal construction. Inspection activities will also cover over-water works, lifting operations near water, and relevant vessel-based activities. Any unsafe conditions observed during inspection duties will be reported to the Assistant Resident Engineer or Resident Engineer in accordance with project procedures.
Quality and Materials Control
- Inspect marine and civil finishes, including protective coatings and corrosion protection systems.
- Monitor marine-grade concrete works and associated quality requirements.
- Inspect joint details, quay fenders, bollards, ladders, and embedded items.
- Verify that materials incorporated into the works are approved and traceable.
- Confirm installed materials correspond with approved material submittals and drawings.
- Witness or participate in applicable field inspections and testing.
- Monitor concrete works associated with marine structures.
- Verify compaction activities for backfill behind quay walls.
- Coordinate inspection activities associated with pile integrity testing.
- Identify non-conforming works and require appropriate rectification in accordance with project procedures.
- Assist with the issuance and follow-up of Non-Conformance Reports and Site Instructions.
Site Inspection and Contractor Coordination
Coordinate with the Contractor 's site team to ensure Inspection Requests are raised at the appropriate stage and that work requiring approval is not covered before inspection. The role will also check that plant, equipment, and temporary works used for civil and marine construction are suitable and approved where required. Close coordination with construction, quality, and HSE teams will be necessary to address site issues and support practical resolutions.
Inspection Records and Reporting
- Maintain detailed records of daily inspections and site observations.
- Track Inspection Requests and their status.
- Maintain records of identified non-conformances.
- Support as-built verification and maintain associated records.
- Document relevant quality observations and corrective actions.
- Provide civil and marine construction inputs for daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
- Report progress, quality issues, and significant site observations to the supervision team.
- Maintain clear and traceable inspection documentation throughout the works.
What Required Skills You 'll Bring
- Technical diploma or degree in a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience on marine, coastal, port, waterfront, or utilities projects.
- Hands-on inspection experience involving marine structures such as quay walls, breakwaters, revetments, and jetties.
