REAL MILES. REAL PAYCHECKS.
APL Cargo is hiring experienced solo reefer drivers who want steady miles, a truck that
runs, and a company that answers the phone.
Straight talk : this is true OTR — you're out about 2 weeks at a time, then home. But if
you live near one of our 22 home-weekly hubs, we can likely get you home once a week
to take your 34-hour restart at home.
AVERAGE SOLO WEEKLY PAY
Based on 2,500–3,500 mi/week at $0.62 starting CPM.
THE NUMBERS, NO GAMES
Your CPM climbs on a clear schedule — and how fast you climb is on you. Drive safe,
run efficient, deliver on time, and you move up. Here's exactly how it works.
Raises are earned on results, not just time in the seat — the drivers who run safe,
efficient, and on-time climb fastest. Miles average 2,500–3,500/week; we build lanes to
keep you moving.
HOW YOU EARN YOUR RAISE
These are the marks that move you up the ladder — and pay bonuses on top.
✓ Safety & clean inspections — Accident-free miles and clean DOT inspections
✓ Fuel efficiency — Hit 7+ MPG and keep it there
✓ On-time delivery — Loads picked up and delivered on schedule
✓ Reliability — Show up, communicate, run the miles
EXTRA PAY ON TOP OF YOUR CPM
• Performance bonuses — Clean DOT inspections & 7+ MPG fuel efficiency
• Breakdown, detention & layover pay — You get paid when the load doesn't cooperate
• Health coverage after 90 days — Comprehensive medical for W-2 drivers
• Driver recognition program — We notice the drivers who show up right
•Loyalty Bonus Program - $100 per weekly bonus for the first 52 weeks of employment as
long as the driver is employed the whole 52 weeks.
HOME WEEKLY AVAILABLE
22 Hubs Where You Get Home Every WeekOTR doesn't have to mean gone for weeks. If you live within about 100 miles of one of our
22 home-weekly locations, we can likely run you on lanes that get you home once a week to
take your 34-hour restart at home — instead of resetting on the road.
To be clear : this is a weekly 34-hour reset at home, not guaranteed Saturday–Sunday off.
The day your reset lands depends on your run, but you'll be home about every 7 days.
Home weekly means a 34-hour restart taken at home roughly once a week — not a set
weekend off. It depends on living within ~100 miles of a hub and available freight in your
area. Not near a hub? You can still run true OTR with home time every 2 weeks — talk to
a recruiter about what's realistic for where you live.
WHAT YOU GET
Built For Drivers Who Run HardEverything here comes from one question we ask ourselves: would this have mattered
when we were the ones behind the wheel?
■ Late-Model Fleet
Drop & hook loads on well-maintained, modern reefer equipment. Less waiting, more rolling.
■ Home Every 2 Weeks
Consistent, predictable home time you can plan your life around. Pet-friendly, too.
■ Safety First
A real safety excellence program — because a safe driver is a driver who's still earning next year.
■ 24/7 Support
Break down at 2 a.m.? Someone picks up. Real people, not a ticket you'll never hear back on.
■ Room to Grow
Clear path to better routes and leadership roles. We promote the drivers who earn it.
■ 48-State Freight
Steady reefer freight coast to coast, planned around keeping you moving, not parked.
WHO YOU'RE DRIVING FOR
We Started In Your SeatAPL Cargo was founded in 2014 by people who drove the miles first. We know what an empty
promise sounds like on a recruiting call — because we heard plenty of them.
That's why this page tells you the hard part up front. It's why our dispatch actually plans your
loads instead of leaving you guessing. We treat drivers like family because that's how we'd
want to be treated out there.
"If it wouldn't have been fair to us as drivers, we don't do it to ours."

QUESTIONS DRIVERS ACTUALLY ASK
The Real AnswersWhat's the starting pay, and how do raises work?
Every solo OTR reefer driver starts at $0.62 CPM. You can earn up to $0.64 at 90 days and
up to $0.66 at one year, then a penny raise each year after — $0.67, $0.68, $0.69 — up to a
top rate of $0.70. Those raises are earned on performance — safety, fuel efficiency (7+ MPG),on-time delivery, and reliability — so the drivers who run right climb fastest. On 2,500–3,500miles a week, that's $1,550–$2,170 weekly, roughly $78K–$109K in your first year, plus performance bonuses on top.
Will I actually get miles, or sit around waiting?
Our dispatch plans lanes to keep you moving — that's the whole point of running solo OTR
with us. Drivers average 2,500–3,500 miles a week. We won't promise a number we can't
run, but keeping you loaded is how we both make money.
Is this W-2 or 1099?
This solo OTR position is true W-2 employment with comprehensive health coverage after 90
days — not a 1099 contractor setup. If you're an owner-operator looking for a 1099 lease
arrangement, we run a separate program; ask your recruiter or visit our Owner-Operator page.
How often will I really be home?
Consistent home time every 2 weeks. This is true OTR, so you're out about two weeks at a
stretch. We're upfront about that because drivers who know what they signed up for stick around —
and that's better for everyone.
Can I get home every week instead of every 2?
Yes — if you live within about 100 miles of one of our 22 home-weekly hubs across the Midwest,
Texas, the Southeast, and the Carolinas. "Home weekly" means you take your 34-hour restart at
home about once a week — it's a weekly reset at the house, not a guaranteed weekend off, so the
exact day depends on your run. Enter your ZIP in the "Home Weekly" section above to see if you
qualify. Not near a hub? You'll run true OTR with home time every 2 weeks.
What are the requirements?
A valid Class A CDL and at least 1 year of verifiable CDL-A driving experience. A clean-ish
record helps — more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years may affect eligibility.
Who runs APL Cargo?
We're a private carrier founded in 2014 (US DOT / MC ), owned and operated by former
drivers, running a late-model reefer fleet across all 48 states. We're big enough to keep you loaded,
small enough to know your name.
