Role Context
The Consultant Pediatric Hematologist Oncologist plays a critical role in diagnosing, treating, and supporting children and adolescents with hematologic disorders and cancer. The position improves long-term patient outcomes through advanced treatment planning, multidisciplinary collaboration, and compassionate, family‑centered care.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of pediatric hematologic and oncologic disorders, including leukemia, lymphoma, anemia, clotting disorders, sickle cell disease, and solid tumors.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient condition, diagnosis, and evidence‑based pediatric oncology protocols.
- Utilize advanced medical knowledge and modern treatment technologies to deliver high‑quality pediatric hematology and oncology care.
- Coordinate closely with pediatricians, oncologists, surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting treatment plans—including chemotherapy, supportive care, and long‑term follow‑up—as necessary.
- Provide emotional, psychological, and educational support to patients and their families throughout the treatment journey.
- Participate in bone marrow biopsy procedures, transfusion planning, and supportive hematology care where applicable.
- Stay updated on current research, clinical advancements, and innovations in pediatric hematology and oncology.
- Participate in departmental meetings, academic teaching, and continuous medical education programs.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records while ensuring compliance with hospital governance and patient safety standards.
Ideal Profile
- Medical degree with recognized specialty training in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology.
- Licensed to practice in the UAE or eligible for specialist licensing.
- UK CCT, American Board, or Canadian Board certification is mandatory.
- Minimum 5 years of Consultant‑level experience in pediatric hematology and oncology.
- Strong expertise in childhood cancers, blood disorders, and advanced pediatric oncology management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong family counseling ability.
- Compassionate, empathetic, and deeply committed to patient‑centered pediatric care.
