COO - Mechanical Fabrication and Installation (Chillers, VRF Systems, Cooling Towers, Boilers, Ductwork & Piping) - Healthcare, Educational and Commercial Markets
Gryphon Oakwood is partnering with a growing MEP contractor in South Carolina to appoint a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join its executive leadership team.
This is an opportunity to make a genuine impact within an ambitious business, strengthening operational performance, developing teams and shaping its long-term strategy.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience across mechanical construction, HVAC, plumbing and specialist building services across commercial, industrial and healthcare markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day operations and drive overall business performance.
- Oversee and develop the Project Management and Safety functions.
- Improve project delivery, operational efficiency and accountability.
- Manage resource planning and operational capacity to support growth.
- Partner with the CEO/Owner and CFO on business strategy and performance.
- Develop scalable processes and leadership structures to support future expansion.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in senior leadership within MEP construction, mechanical contracting or building services.
- Strong technical understanding of HVAC, mechanical construction, plumbing and associated building systems across commercial, industrial and healthcare markets.
- Proven experience overseeing project management teams, operational functions and multiple construction projects.
- Demonstrated ability to improve project delivery, profitability, operational efficiency and business performance.
- Strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills, with the ability to develop teams and drive accountability.
- Experience supporting business growth, workforce planning and the development of scalable operational processes.
- Commercially minded, with a strong understanding of project financials, cost control and contract performance.
- Experience working directly with executive leadership or business owners to deliver strategic objectives.
