This role owns the foundations that everything else depends on.
As a Data Platform Engineer at SentraAI you will build and operate the infrastructure tooling and services that underpin large-scale enterprise data and AI systems spanning numerous source systems high data volumes and extensive pipeline estates.
If you have not operated platforms in production handled incidents or taken accountability for reliability and cost this role is not for you.
The Operating Context
SentraAI is delivering a multi-year data and AI transformation for a complex enterprise.
The programme includes:
Migration from legacy on-prem and bespoke platforms
A modern cloud lakehouse architecture supporting batch and real-time workloads
Enterprise analytics operational reporting and AI workloads at scale
High expectations around governance security and availability
This is not greenfield. The platform is live relied upon and scrutinised.
Your Accountability
You are accountable for the stability performance security and cost efficiency of the data platform.
That includes:
Building and maintaining cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code
Operating and tuning distributed compute and storage services
Running and maintaining event streaming and CDC infrastructure
Implementing CI/CD for platform and data assets
Monitoring alerting and incident response for live systems
Supporting engineers during failures and critical delivery windows
Ownership does not stop at provisioning
Cloud infrastructure using Terraform Pulumi or equivalent
Distributed data processing environments and runtimes
Event streaming platforms and integration services
Object storage layouts lifecycle policies and access controls
Observability stacks for platform and pipeline health
Automated scaling recovery and cost controls
You are expected to actively use AI tools to improve reliability automation and operational efficiency within defined governance standards.
This Role Is Not For You If
You have only worked in development environments not production
You avoid incident ownership or operational responsibility
You treat infrastructure as static rather than evolving systems
You are uncomfortable balancing reliability cost and delivery speed
You prefer tools over outcomes
We are explicit because the platform cannot fail quietly.
What Strong Looks Like
Within 612 months:
Platform reliability and performance are consistently high
Incident frequency and recovery times decrease
Engineers trust the platform and do not work around it
Costs are predictable and well-controlled
Standards exist because they work not because they are enforced
This is how performance is measured.
Ownership of a core enterprise data platform
Exposure to complex high-scale systems
A team that values operational excellence
Meritocratic progression based on impact
Career capital that is globally credible
Final Note
SentraAI does not build fragile platforms.
We build systems that survive scale scrutiny and failure.
If you want to own infrastructure that matters and are comfortable being accountable for it we should talk.
