Job Title: Debt Collector – Rent a Car

Employment Type: Full-Time

Reporting To: Accounts Manager / Branch Manager

Salary: AED 3,000 – 4,000 per month

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced, confident, and target-driven Debt Collector to join our Rent a Car team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for recovering overdue payments from customers, following up on outstanding rental balances, negotiating payment settlements, and ensuring maximum recovery of outstanding debts. The candidate must possess strong communication and negotiation skills, a professional yet firm approach to debt recovery, and the ability to handle difficult customers while maintaining compliance with company policies and UAE regulations.

Key Responsibilities: Debt Collection & Recovery

• Contact customers with overdue payments through phone calls, WhatsApp, emails, and direct follow-ups.
• Recover outstanding rental payments, traffic fines, Salik charges, vehicle damage charges, and other pending amounts.
• Review customer ledgers and identify overdue, unpaid, and high-risk accounts.
• Negotiate payment arrangements and settlements with customers to recover outstanding debts.
• Conduct regular follow-ups with customers who have failed to meet payment commitments.
• Achieve daily, weekly, and monthly debt recovery targets.
• Prioritize long-overdue accounts and take appropriate recovery actions.
• Follow up on bounced cheques, failed transactions, and delayed payments.
• Escalate unresolved and difficult recovery cases to management for further action.

Customer Follow-Up & Negotiation

• Communicate firmly and professionally with customers regarding overdue payments.
• Persuade customers to clear outstanding balances within agreed timelines.
• Handle difficult customers, payment disputes, and collection-related complaints effectively.
• Negotiate realistic payment plans and obtain clear payment commitments.
• Maintain consistent follow-up until outstanding amounts are fully recovered.
• Coordinate with customers to resolve payment-related issues without unnecessary delays.

Field Collection & Recovery Coordination

• Conduct field visits to customers when required for payment collection and recovery follow-up.
• Coordinate with the Operations and Accounts teams to verify outstanding rental amounts.
• Assist in tracing customers who are not responding to calls or payment reminders, using lawful and company-approved methods.
• Coordinate with management regarding cases requiring legal recovery procedures.
• Maintain proper documentation of customer communication, payment commitments, and recovery actions.

Collection Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain accurate records of outstanding debts, collection activities, and recovered amounts.
• Update customer ledgers and collection status regularly.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly debt collection reports.
• Track payment commitments and ensure follow-up on promised payment dates.
• Identify customers with repeated payment delays and report high-risk accounts to management.
• Monitor individual recovery performance against assigned collection targets.

Compliance & Company Policies

• Follow company debt collection procedures and recovery guidelines.
• Ensure all collection activities comply with applicable UAE laws and regulations.
• Maintain confidentiality of customer financial and personal information.
• Ensure all recovered payments are properly documented and coordinated with the Accounts team.
• Support management in minimizing bad debts and improving overall recovery performance.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).

Experience

• 2–5 years of proven experience in debt collection, payment recovery, or overdue account management.
• Previous experience in the Rent a Car industry in the UAE is strongly preferred.
• Experience recovering overdue customer payments and handling difficult collection cases.
• Knowledge of UAE debt recovery practices and collection procedures is an advantage.
• Experience handling customer ledgers, outstanding balances, and payment settlements.
• Familiarity with Speed System software is preferred.
• Valid UAE driving licence is an advantage for field collection activities.
