- Build and maintain the demand forecast using historical consumption, requester inputs and known projects or events.
- Collect and validate demand from internal requesters; challenge unrealistic or incomplete requirements.
- Track forecast accuracy and bias, investigate gaps and adjust models and assumptions.
- Maintain demand master data (items, units of measure, lead times, consumption patterns).
- Consolidate demand from Sales, Production, R&D, and other relevant functions.
- Identify demand fluctuations, risks, and potential shortages.
- Translate the demand forecast into a time-phased supply requirement.
2. Supply & Material Planning
- Prepare material and supply plans based on the production schedule, BOM, inventory levels, supplier lead times, and capacity.
- Ensure materials are available in the right quantity and at the required time to support production.
- Monitor open orders, expedite late deliveries and resolve shortages, quality or quantity issues.
- Identify material shortages and develop recovery plans.
- Define and periodically review Min/Max, Safety Stock, Re Order Qty, Reorder Points, and PO Cycles based on actual consumption and lead times.
- Support automated replenishment and MRP processes.
3. Production Planning
- Coordinate with Production to align production capacity with demand.
- Monitor production capacity, bottlenecks, and constraints.
- Re-plan when there are changes in demand, material availability, production capacity, or supplier performance.
- Provide Procurement with material requirements and planned order quantities.
- Coordinate supplier lead times, capacity, MOQ, delivery schedules, and critical material requirements.
- Monitor supplier commitments and elevate potential delivery risks.
- Support procurement with supplier performance data for reviews, sourcing and contract decisions.
5. Inventory Management
- Monitor inventory levels, aging, excess, slow-moving, and obsolete materials.
- Keep inventory within agreed targets while protecting service levels.
- Optimize inventory while maintaining required production coverage.
- Analyze inventory against demand, lead time, MOQ, and safety-stock requirements.
- Support inventory reduction and working-capital improvement initiatives.
6. Planning & Performance Analysis
- Maintain planning parameters and master data in ERP/MRP systems.
- Monitor KPIs such as:
- Forecast Accuracy
- Material Availability
- Production Plan Adherence
- Stockout Rate
- Excess & Obsolete Inventory
- Schedule Adherence
- Prepare regular demand, supply, inventory, and shortage reports.
7. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Production, Procurement, Logistics, Warehouse, Engineering/R&D, and Quality.
- Conduct regular Demand & Supply Planning meetings.
- Escalate critical supply risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure alignment between the production plan, procurement plan, and inventory strategy.
- Prepare demand and supply inputs for the monthly S&OP or planning review.
- Highlight risks, constraints and scenarios, and propose mitigation actions.
- Communicate agreed plans and changes to requesters, procurement, warehouse and suppliers.
- Identify and implement improvements to planning processes, tools and supplier collaboration.
- Follow company policies, procurement procedures and internal controls.
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Strong understanding of BOM, MRP, ERP, inventory planning, production capacity and supplier lead times.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and supply-chain KPIs.
