Crafting a Winning Profile for the Excise Tax Manager Position
Recruiters at Andersen look for a blend of depth and breadth. Below is a checklist that transforms a generic CV into a targeted showcase:
- Technical Lexicon: Highlight specific exposure to UAE Excise Tax statutes, FTA circulars, and the Tax Procedures Law. Mention any involvement in drafting position papers or responding to FTA information requests.
- Audit & Litigation Track Record: Quantify the number of audits led, the monetary value of disputes resolved, and the success rate of appeals before the Tax Disputes Resolution Committee (TDRC) or UAE courts.
- Stakeholder Management: Cite examples of coordinating cross‑functional teams—finance, legal, operations—and external counsel to deliver cohesive defence strategies.
- Professional Credentials: List CPA, CA, LLM, or specialized tax certifications. If you hold a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) or have completed the UAE Tax Academy program, make it prominent.

- Case‑Study Simulation: You may be handed a mock audit notice. Demonstrate a structured response: identify key information requests, outline a defence strategy, and draft a concise executive summary for senior management.
- Cultural Fit Interview: Andersen values collaborative problem‑solving. Prepare anecdotes that illustrate your ability to manage high‑pressure disputes while maintaining stakeholder trust.
