Founding partner — revenue & gtm

Mar Cat | Ahmedabad

We are looking for someone to build revenue with us from zero.

Mar Cat is building the technology infrastructure for India's independent retail.

We're starting with supermarkets and independent retailers, helping them run their stores better across sales, inventory, customers and growth.

We are very early.

There is no sales team.

There is no proven GTM playbook.

There is no guaranteed salary for this role.

What we do have is a market we believe is underserved, a product we are building, and the opportunity to build something meaningful from the ground up.

We are looking for a founding partner to own Revenue & GTM.

What you would own

Initially, almost everything related to getting Mar Cat into the hands of retailers.

You will:

Find the right retailers to target Build the prospect pipeline from scratch Talk directly to owners and decision-makers Visit stores and understand how they operate Run demos and sell the product Close the first customers Experiment with outbound, referrals, partnerships, field sales and other channels Understand why customers buy — and why they don't Help shape pricing, positioning and packaging Turn customer conversations into product and GTM decisions

Once we find what works, your job changes.

You will build the revenue engine:

process → metrics → playbook → team → scale.

Eventually, you would own the broader revenue organization and help take Mar Cat beyond Ahmedabad.

This is not a sales job

We're not looking for someone to execute a lead list.

We're not looking for someone who needs an established sales process.

We're not looking for someone whose definition of GTM is Linked In posts and marketing campaigns.

At this stage, you are the GTM function.

You need to be comfortable figuring things out, hearing "no", changing the approach, getting back on the phone and trying again.

Some days you'll be selling.

Some days you'll be in a supermarket.

Some days you'll be analysing the funnel.

Some days you'll be figuring out why our pitch isn't working.

And some days you'll be sitting with the founder deciding what we should change.

Who we want

We care much less about your degree or title than your track record.

You might be:

A strong B2 B salesperson who wants to build something An early-stage startup operator who has owned revenue An entrepreneurial sales professional Someone who has built a territory or business from scratch A retailer/SMB-focused sales professional who understands how owners actually buy

You should be comfortable with:

Cold calling Field sales Rejection Ambiguity Direct conversations with business owners Working without a playbook Taking responsibility for outcomes Gujarati, Hindi and English Being on the ground across Ahmedabad

Experience in Saa S, POS, ERP, FMCG, merchant-tech, distribution or B2 B sales is useful, but not a requirement.

We care about evidence of ownership more than years of experience.

The person we're looking for

You probably won't enjoy this if you want:

A defined job description A fixed sales process A large inbound pipeline Predictable working days Someone else to tell you what to do

You may love it if you think:

"Give me a market, a product and a phone. I'll figure out how to get the first customers."
What you get

You join Mar Cat as a founding partner, not as an employee.

Meaningful founder-level equity Direct partnership with the founder Ownership of Revenue & GTM A seat at the table on major company decisions The opportunity to shape product through direct customer exposure The opportunity to build and eventually lead the revenue organization No artificial ceiling on what you can build or own

This is an equity-first opportunity and does not come with a conventional salary package.

The value of the opportunity comes from what we build together.

How we'll evaluate you

Don't worry about having the perfect resume.

Show us evidence that you can create something from nothing.

Tell us about:

The hardest thing you've sold A time you created an opportunity without being handed a lead A target you were responsible for and how you achieved it A rejection that taught you something Something you built or owned without being asked

We care about what you actually did, not just what your job description said.

If this sounds more exciting than a conventional job, we'd like to talk.
