Lead and supervise the commissioning and testing of high-voltage GIS equipment on site. Coordinate GIS commissioning activities in accordance with company /OEM procedures, approved drawings, specifications, commissioning plans, method statements, and HSE requirements. Review GIS installation completion and verify that equipment is ready for commissioning and testing. Coordinate with installation teams to ensure all mechanical and electrical installation activities are properly completed before testing. Supervise and/or perform GIS commissioning activities, including applicable: Insulation resistance and electrical continuity checks Contact resistance measurements Circuit breaker testing and functional checks Disconnector and earthing switch operational checks Interlocking and control logic verification CT/VT-related checks and testing Protection and control interface checks Gas compartment and SF₆-related checks Local and remote control functional tests Alarm, indication, trip, and protection signal verification Auxiliary circuit and control supply checks Coordinate GIS gas-handling activities and verify that gas-related requirements are completed in accordance with OEM procedures. Verify GIS compartment integrity, gas pressure/density monitoring, alarms, and associated functional requirements. Review commissioning procedures, test forms, inspection records, and approved test documentation before execution. Identify technical issues, commissioning failures, discrepancies, and abnormal test results and coordinate appropriate corrective actions. Support troubleshooting and fault identification during commissioning. Coordinate with protection, control, SCADA, transformer, cable, and other commissioning teams to verify complete system interfaces. Coordinate with the client and KAHRAMAA representatives during inspections, testing, and commissioning activities. Ensure all commissioning results are properly recorded, reviewed, and submitted for approval. Prepare and maintain commissioning records, test reports, checklists, punch lists, and handover documentation. Monitor and close commissioning punch-list items prior to energization. Coordinate with the project management team and OEM representatives to ensure commissioning milestones are achieved. Support final system readiness checks and preparation for energization and handover. Ensure all commissioning activities are performed safely and in full compliance with project HSE requirements.
Requirements Previous experience on KAHRAMAA projects in Qatar is mandatory. Minimum 10 years of experience in high-voltage electrical substation projects. Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in GIS commissioning, preferably on 220 k V and/or 400 k V systems. Experience with company 8 DQ1 and/or 8 DN9 is highly preferred. Valid company GIS commissioning certification or recognized OEM commissioning training. Strong knowledge of GIS testing, commissioning procedures, quality control, and HSE requirements. Extensive experience with high-voltage GIS commissioning, preferably at 220 k V and/or 400 k V. Previous hands-on experience with 8 DQ1 and/or 8 DN9 GIS. Strong understanding of GIS commissioning procedures and OEM requirements. Experience with high-voltage switchgear functional testing and commissioning. Knowledge of GIS control, protection, interlocking, auxiliary systems, and SCADA interfaces. Experience in troubleshooting GIS equipment and resolving commissioning issues. Ability to interpret electrical single-line diagrams, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, control drawings, and OEM documentation. Strong understanding of testing, inspection, quality assurance, and commissioning documentation.
