English Teaching Role
The High School English Teacher will deliver purposeful and interactive lessons that strengthen students ' engagement with English while developing their critical thinking, curiosity, and confidence as learners. The role requires an educator who can combine strong subject knowledge with inquiry-based teaching, differentiated instruction, and effective collaboration. The successful candidate will support continuity across curriculum delivery while creating an inclusive classroom environment responsive to diverse learning needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and interactive English lessons to High School students in accordance with the school 's curriculum and educational standards.
- Design and implement effective teaching strategies that encourage enthusiasm for English and develop critical thinking skills.
- Apply inquiry-based approaches and effective practical English instruction.
- Differentiated learning to address the diverse needs of students.
- Maintain continuity and quality in the delivery of curriculum content.
- Establish a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages curiosity and exploration.
- Collaborate with colleagues to create a supportive learning environment.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and maintain open communication with parents about student progress.
- Build productive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Contribute to enrichment opportunities, professional learning, and the wider life of Dubai American Academy.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Education degree, or an initial degree combined with a relevant teaching qualification such as a PGCE, State License, or equivalent specialising in English.
- Proven experience teaching English at High School level.
- Experience within an American curriculum or IB curriculum school is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of inquiry-based learning and practical English instruction.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to establish strong relationships across the school community.
- Commitment to continually improving professional practice and delivering outstanding teaching and learning experiences.
