A great UHY client is seeking an Interim Strategic Finance Manager . The ideal candidate will have strong financial modeling experience, advanced Excel skills, and Power BI expertise, along with the ability to translate complex financial and market data into actionable business recommendations.
The Interim Strategic Finance Manager role is a temporary consulting position. This role is remote with minimal travel needed.
Interim Strategic Finance Manager Responsibilities
- Provide strategic investment planning and financial analysis support to senior finance, practice, and business development leadership.
- Lead client and business profitability analysis, including leverage, staffing mix, matter economics, margins, and opportunities for performance improvement.
- Develop financial models and business cases supporting strategic investments, new market opportunities, acquisitions, partnerships, and other growth initiatives.
- Conduct market, industry, competitive, and client-segment analysis to identify growth opportunities and strategic priorities.
- Analyze peer performance, external benchmarks, market trends, and competitive intelligence to identify gaps and opportunities.
- Translate complex quantitative analysis into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
- Support strategic planning, scenario analysis, forecasting, and prioritization of growth initiatives.
- Partner with Finance, Business Development, Revenue Management, Pricing, Talent, and Data Analytics teams to align assumptions, data, and strategic decisions.
- Collaborate with analytics teams to define data requirements and translate analytical outputs into business insights.
- Develop dashboards, KPI frameworks, data models, automated reporting, and executive scorecards using tools such as Power BI and Excel.
- Establish consistent analytical standards, workplans, financial models, and executive-ready deliverables across strategic finance projects.
- Lead and develop a team of financial analysts, providing mentorship, direction, and oversight.
- Build scalable market intelligence and strategic finance capabilities that support ongoing business growth.
- Manage multiple priorities independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
Interim Strategic Finance Manager Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in strategic finance, corporate development, management consulting, commercial strategy, competitive intelligence, or a related analytical field.
- 2+ years of experience managing or mentoring financial, business, or analytical professionals.
- Strong financial modeling and business-case development skills.
- Advanced Excel skills are required, including complex data analysis and financial modeling.
- Power BI experience is required, including dashboarding, data visualization, or KPI reporting.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into concise business insights.
- Experience with profitability analysis, scenario modeling, market analysis, forecasting, or strategic investment analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create executive-ready presentations and recommendations.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and comfort partnering with senior leadership.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative, growth-oriented mindset with the ability to mentor analysts and build trusted relationships across Finance and business teams.
- Experience in management consulting, Big Four advisory, investment banking, corporate strategy, or competitive intelligence is preferred.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
- CFA, FPAC, FMVA, or similar financial certification is preferred.
- Willingness to travel periodically, as needed.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive financial and business information.
