Java Developer + Automation Testing experience
They want someone who spends the majority of their time developing software, but also has meaningful experience building and executing automated tests.
Must-haves
- Strong Java development experience
- Building applications/features, not just test scripts
- Object-oriented programming
- APIs/services/backend development
- Test automation experience
- Selenium
- Playwright
- Cucumber
- JMeter
- Or comparable automation frameworks.
- Ability to write automation code, not simply execute tests.
- Experience integrating testing into the development lifecycle/CI/CD.
- Comfortable working as a developer who owns quality, rather than a QA person primarily responsible for testing.
What they DON’T want
- ❌ Someone whose resume is primarily:
- Manual testing
- Writing test cases
- Test-case execution
- Regression testing
- Unit testing only
- JUnit-only testing
