To serve as the focal point for all operations at the stacks maintenance unit. Responsibilities include shelving books, shifting collections, and maintaining smooth operations among the team. Key Result Areas
Assist with library opening and closing daily routines involving front row shelves, return stations, bins, and the 24/7 drop-off station. Oversee the overall shelving of all general collections to ensure smooth operations. Ensure staff cover all areas and find replacements when staff are lacking. Coordinate daily with the Stacks Maintenance Team. Report to the Senior Librarian regarding projects, changes, or new requirements. Plan new book feedings and coordinate with available staff. Maintain general cleanliness and orderliness within library shelves and common areas. Ensure high-quality customer service among the team, including locating, retrieving, sorting, restocking, and processing loans/returns. Participate in inventory and search activities, reporting missing or damaged items. Perform shelving rearrangements and shelf reading to maintain collection order. Regularly inspect busy sections and coordinate additional team coverage. Encourage teamwork and supervise assigned shelving areas to ensure smooth operations. Assist librarians with weeding outdated materials and report technical issues to concerned teams. Collaborate & Build Trust. Demonstrate Ownership & Drive. Seek Knowledge & Advancement. Cost Optimization. Customer Communication & Service. High School education. 2–5 years of relevant full-time work experience; customer service experience is a plus. Must perform well on an alphanumeric sorting test. Experience with standard office equipment (printers, copiers, etc.) preferred. Ability to work accurately with strong attention to detail during repetitive tasks. Effective oral and written communication skills; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
