Detailed Job Description
As a Linux and Windows System Administrator at Nair Systems, you will take full ownership of administering core operating system infrastructure supporting high-availability banking platforms in Qatar. Your day-to-day responsibilities include provisioning and maintaining Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, Rocky Linux) and Windows server instances, managing user access controls, and administering software installations, security updates, and kernel patching. You will monitor system performance, disk capacity, and service availability, troubleshoot complex OS-level bottlenecks, and maintain comprehensive audit logs in compliance with banking regulations. Furthermore, you will collaborate closely with database administrators, network engineers, and security teams to maintain resilient operational environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, secure, and maintain enterprise Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, Rocky Linux, etc.) and Windows Server environments.
- Monitor system performance, resource utilization, hardware health, service availability, and disk capacity proactively.
- Perform comprehensive system administration tasks including user account management, permission matrices, and privileged access control.
- Manage software installation, scheduled patching, OS upgrades, and critical security vulnerability updates.
- Troubleshoot operating system anomalies, boot failures, storage connectivity issues, and performance degradation.
- Ensure strict adherence to banking industry security standards, hardening baselines, and data compliance frameworks.
- Coordinate with database administrators, network engineers, and application support teams to resolve infrastructure incidents.
- Maintain up-to-date system documentation, configuration baselines, asset inventories, and standard operating procedures.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum of 4+ years of professional experience in enterprise Linux and Windows system administration.
- Demonstrated operational background supporting IT infrastructure within the banking or financial services sector.
- Strong technical expertise in Linux distributions (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, Rocky Linux) and Microsoft Windows Server.
- Proven proficiency in system performance monitoring, capacity planning, and resource optimization.
- Solid experience managing user permissions, Active Directory, access controls, and security hardening.
- Practical experience with software patching, package management, and kernel upgrades.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and cross-functional communication capabilities.
- Mandatory eligibility to work onsite in Qatar.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Professional certifications such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, or Linux Professional Institute (LPI).
- Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V) and cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
- Basic scripting skills in Bash, PowerShell, or Python for task automation and log analysis.
- Experience with enterprise backup platforms, monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus), and ticketing systems.
- Prior working experience within regional banking institutions or IT managed services in the GCC.
