About the Law Practice Industry / The Opportunity:
Join a growing practice in the law practice industry, where skilled advocacy and thoughtful case strategy help clients navigate complex disputes. This opportunity offers an experienced attorney the chance to manage a diverse insurance defense caseload, work independently, and contribute to a strong team of trial lawyers. You will also play an important role in mentoring junior attorneys and supporting the continued growth of the practice.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a full caseload of insurance defense matters, including labor law and construction litigation, premises liability, motor vehicle, property damage, and general liability claims.
- Lead cases through all phases of litigation, from pleadings and discovery through depositions, motion practice, mediation, and trial.
- Supervise and mentor junior litigation associates while keeping administrative duties limited.
- Appear in state and local courts throughout the New York City metropolitan area and surrounding regions.
- Develop case strategies, assess risk, and advise clients on litigation options and progress.
- Prepare persuasive written submissions and deliver effective oral advocacy.
- Manage deadlines and caseload priorities independently while maintaining strong client service.
Must-Have Skills:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Active New York State Bar admission in good standing.
- Six to ten or more years of insurance defense litigation experience.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage cases and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills.
- Experience handling insurance defense matters, including labor law and construction litigation, premises liability, motor vehicle, property damage, or general liability claims.
- Competitive mindset and passion for advocacy.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior attorneys.
- Trial experience in state or local courts.
- Experience handling a broad range of insurance defense matters.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
