A little about this gig
Our client, a leading organization in the power systems industry, is seeking a qualified Power Systems Engineer to support the design, modeling, development, and testing of complex power systems. In this role, you will play a key part in evaluating system reliability, efficiency, cost, and safety, while contributing to engineering solutions through simulation, testing, and continuous process improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for an analytically minded engineer to apply hands-on technical expertise to real-world power systems challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Design, model, develop, and test power systems and components while applying established engineering principles and developing functional requirements.
- Use PSSE and TARA to create simulations, evaluate preliminary designs, and assess system performance, reliability, efficiency, and safety.
- Investigate system and component failures, identify root causes, and recommend improvements to maintain product quality and operational performance.
- Collaborate with engineering stakeholders to integrate components, validate final designs, monitor quality, and support continuous improvements to engineering processes.
The ideal candidate
- Hands-on experience with PSSE and TARA in an engineering or power systems environment.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles related to system design, modeling, simulation, development, and testing.
- Experience developing and evaluating simulations or prototypes to validate designs and system performance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate failures and perform root-cause analysis.
- Experience evaluating engineering designs for effectiveness, cost, reliability, efficiency, and safety.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Experience with Python is preferred, along with a degree or equivalent experience in engineering or a related technical discipline.
Reasons to love it
- Work on complex engineering systems where modeling and simulation directly support design decisions.
- Gain hands-on experience with industry-specific engineering tools such as PSSE and TARA.
- Contribute to reliability, safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Apply analytical and technical skills to real-world engineering challenges.
