Procurement Engineer – LV Switchgear & Electrical Products

This position requires a minimum of 2–3 years of relevant procurement experience in an electrical, switchgear, panel manufacturing, electrical trading or related company. A Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification is mandatory. Candidates without relevant industry experience are requested not to apply.

Job Summary

We are looking for a Procurement Engineer with hands‑on experience in the LV switchgear, electrical panel, electrical trading or related industry. The candidate will be responsible for sourcing electrical materials and components, coordinating with suppliers, obtaining competitive quotations, placing purchase orders and ensuring the timely availability of materials for projects and operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end procurement process for electrical products, components, materials and project requirements.
• Source and evaluate local and international suppliers for electrical and switchgear products.
• Obtain and compare quotations, prices, lead times, payment terms and technical specifications from suppliers.
• Negotiate with suppliers to achieve competitive pricing, suitable payment terms and reliable delivery schedules.
• Prepare and process purchase requisitions, purchase orders and related procurement documentation.
• Coordinate closely with the Engineering, Sales, Projects, Production, Stores and Finance teams to understand material requirements.
• Review Bills of Materials (BOMs), material specifications, datasheets and approved makes before purchasing.
• Ensure that purchased materials comply with approved technical specifications, project requirements and customer/consultant approvals.
• Procure LV electrical and switchgear products such as MCCBs, MCBs, ACBs, contactors, relays, meters, busbars, terminals, control components, enclosures, cables, accessories and other panel components.
• Coordinate with suppliers regarding product availability, technical clarifications, delivery schedules and documentation.
• Follow up regularly with suppliers to ensure on time delivery and avoid project delays.
• Coordinate with the Stores/Warehouse team for material receipt, inspection and documentation.
• Support the QC and Engineering teams in resolving material discrepancies, quality issues and incorrect or damaged deliveries.
• Maintain and update supplier databases, price lists, lead times, payment terms and product information.
• Identify alternative suppliers and products to improve cost efficiency, availability and delivery performance.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, authorized distributors and key suppliers.
• Monitor market prices and identify opportunities for cost savings and improved procurement terms.
• Coordinate with suppliers to obtain technical catalogues, certificates, test reports, compliance documents and other required documentation.
• Ensure procurement activities are properly recorded and updated in the company’s ERP system.
• Track outstanding purchase orders and provide regular updates to management and relevant departments.
• Assist in resolving procurement‑related issues and support management with supplier evaluation and selection.
• Maintain proper records of quotations, comparative statements, purchase orders, delivery notes and supplier correspondence.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company procedures, project requirements and approved budgets.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant procurement experience in an LV switchgear, electrical panel manufacturing, electrical trading or similar company.
• Good technical knowledge of LV electrical products and switchgear components.
• Experience in supplier sourcing, quotation comparison, negotiation and purchase order management.
• Ability to understand and interpret BOMs, electrical specifications, datasheets and product requirements.
• Experience with ERP/procurement software is preferred.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
• Strong negotiation, communication and supplier management skills.
• Good coordination skills with Engineering, Sales, Production, Stores and Finance departments.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple project requirements and deadlines.
• UAE experience in the electrical/switchgear industry will be an advantage.
