Position Overview
GMG is seeking a Senior Buyer - Sports Retail in Dubai, UAE to manage the end-to-end buying process across an assigned Sports business unit. The role focuses on building commercially relevant product assortments, sourcing and negotiating with suppliers, analyzing consumer and market trends, and optimizing purchasing decisions to support profitability and customer demand. Working closely with the Category Manager and cross-functional teams, the Senior Buyer will use SAP, Power BI, Excel, and retail performance data to guide buying, inventory, and supplier decisions.

Role Responsibilities
- Lead product selection and procurement for assigned categories, developing assortments that reflect target consumer needs and brand positioning.
- Research market developments, competitor activity, consumer behavior, and emerging trends to identify assortment opportunities and range gaps.
- Negotiate supplier and vendor terms covering cost prices, payment conditions, rebates, delivery arrangements, and other commercial considerations.
- Manage purchase order placement, tracking, and follow-up to support on-time, in-full deliveries against seasonal calendars and promotional plans.
- Analyze sales, purchasing, stock, and inventory data using SAP, Power BI, Excel, and other relevant tools.
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast future product requirements to support effective buying decisions.
- Partner with Merchandising, Allocation, and Logistics teams to maintain efficient product flow and address supply chain challenges.
- Track purchasing performance against budgets and financial targets, recommending rebuys, cancellations, rephasing, or markdown support where appropriate.
- Evaluate supplier performance and maintain productive relationships while pursuing improvements in quality, service, and commercial terms.
- Ensure buying activities comply with company procurement policies, documentation requirements, and ethical guidelines.
- Prepare clear and accurate purchasing and performance reports for leadership.
- Provide buying expertise and guidance to Buyers and Assistant Buyers, supporting their development and promoting effective working practices.
Technical and Functional Competencies
Strong commercial judgment and negotiation skills are essential for securing favorable supplier terms while maintaining an effective product assortment.
- Strong analytical capability with confidence working with retail and purchasing data.
- Proficiency in SAP, Power BI, and Excel.
- Sound understanding of retail buying cycles and assortment planning.

Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor 's degree in Business or Supply Chain Management.
- Master 's degree is advantageous.
- Procurement certification.
- 5 years of procurement experience.
- 3 years of retail buying experience.Practical experience in inventory management.
- SAP ERP knowledge is required.
- Proficiency in SAP and Power BI.
