Service Life Design: Utilize numerical modeling to predict the service life of new structures and define performance requirements to meet owner objectives.
Material Selection & Testing: Develop and test specialized concrete mixtures including studying permeability creep shrinkage and resistance to corrosion or chemical attack.
Structural Assessment: Conduct site visits condition surveys and forensic evaluations of existing concrete structures to identify damage mechanisms.
Rehabilitation Strategy: Design repair methods and maintenance plans for concrete infrastructure to extend its usable life.
Code Compliance: Ensure designs and material specifications comply with relevant technical codes and standards (e.g. ACI ASTM).
Qualifications :
Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering Materials Science or a related field.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of concrete microstructure hydration and degradation mechanisms (corrosion ASR sulfates).
Field Experience: Experience in laboratory testing of concrete and site inspection.
Software Proficiency: Proficiency in service life modeling software (e.g. STADIUM) or structural analysis tools.
