Senior Full Stack Engineer

Space42 (ADX: SPACE42) is a UAE-based AI-powered SpaceTech company that integrates satellite communications, geospatial analytics and artificial intelligence capabilities to enlighten the Earth from space. Established in 2024 following the successful merger between Bayanat and Yahsat, Space42’s global reach allows it to address the rapidly evolving needs of its customers in governments, enterprises, and communities.

Our vision is to pioneer beyond today for humanity to experience a better tomorrow. Space42 challenges traditional approaches with advanced AI and cutting-edge satellite technology, making space more accessible and redefining how data from space can be used on Earth. We aim to achieve this by connecting people to rewire potential, informing decisions to reimagine impact and enabling action to redefine tomorrow.

ROLE PURPOSE

• Own full-stack delivery, both React frontend and Java (Spring Boot) backend, across Space42 projects outside the dedicated critical-client engagement, which has its own embedded frontend and backend specialists
• Take end-to-end ownership of features: design, build, and ship both sides of the stack without depending on a counterpart engineer
• Work across multiple concurrent projects, adapting to each project's existing architecture and conventions rather than imposing one standard approach
• Build in data integrity, performance, and accessibility from the start rather than treating them as afterthoughts
• Coordinate with other engineering leads and project-dedicated teams as needed to align on shared standards and practices across the organization

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, build, and maintain features end-to-end across the React frontend and Java (Spring Boot) backend, adapting to each project's established architecture
• Maintain and extend frontend state management approaches without introducing conflicting patterns
• Ensure data integrity and correct transaction boundaries across concurrent backend operations
• Diagnose and resolve issues across the full stack, from frontend rendering and state bugs to backend concurrency and performance issues
• Profile and improve performance across the stack under real usage, not synthetic benchmarks
• Ensure UI changes meet accessibility standards (WCAG) as a built-in requirement, not an afterthought
• Work on the relational database layer (schema changes, query performance, migrations) with production-safe practices
• Design and consume REST APIs, owning both sides of the contract between frontend and backend
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, and Designers in Agile/Scrum on whichever project you're supporting
• Apply change-management discipline appropriate to each project's risk profile, whether early-stage or already in production

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Strong React experience (5+ years) with a deep understanding of state architecture in non-trivial applications
• component state, context, and state management patterns at scale
• Strong Java experience (5+ years) with a deep understanding of concurrency
• thread safety, locking, and race conditions
• the java.util.concurrent toolkit
• Solid grasp of transaction boundaries and data integrity in multi-user systems
• Experience with Spring Boot for building backend services
• Strong SQL and relational database experience (schema design, query tuning, migrations)
• Track record of diagnosing and improving performance under real usage, on both the frontend and backend
• Solid grasp of web accessibility standards (WCAG) and how to implement them, not just audit for them
• Comfortable reading and extending an existing, unfamiliar codebase across both stacks
• Strong understanding of REST API design, both building and consuming, including request/response contracts

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Comfortable working across multiple projects with different codebases, conventions, and risk profiles, rather than being embedded full-time on one
• Comfortable adapting to each project's existing architectural patterns rather than imposing a single standard approach everywhere
• Genuinely full-stack: expect end-to-end ownership of features across both frontend and backend on every project you touch
• Coordinates with, but does not report into, project-dedicated engineers; shares standards and practices rather than a reporting line

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) to accelerate delivery across projects, while retaining full ownership and review of what ships

OUR BENEFITS & PERKS

• Competitive compensation packages and comprehensive medical insurance to support you and your family.
• Wellbeing-focused initiatives and resources, designed to enhance your personal and professional life.
• Access to exclusive discount programs, offering savings across various lifestyle and leisure experiences across the UAE.
