Senior Network Escalation Engineer – Full Time
Location: Herndon, VA – Onsite
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Clearance: Active TS/SCI Required
Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Network Escalation Engineer to provide advanced technical support for complex Federal customer environments. The role focuses on critical escalations, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and customer engagement, with a strong emphasis on Juniper switching, data center networking, and Layer 2/Layer 3 technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and resolve high-priority and business-critical customer escalations.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting, packet analysis, and root cause analysis.
- Support Juniper switching and data center technologies.
- Lead customer escalation calls, technical reviews, and onsite engagements.
- Develop workarounds, mitigations, and permanent solutions.
- Collaborate with Engineering, QA, Product Management, and Development teams.
- Document solutions and create knowledge-base and troubleshooting content.
- Mentor engineers and drive operational improvements.
Required Technical Skills
- 10+ years of networking experience; 7+ years in advanced escalations.
- Extensive experience with Juniper EX and QFX platforms.
- Strong Layer 2/Layer 3 networking knowledge.
- EVPN/VXLAN and data center fabric architectures.
- BGP, OSPF, multicast, IGMP/IGMP Snooping, and PIM.
- VLANs, STP/RSTP/MSTP, LACP, VRRP, QoS/CoS, and 802.1X.
- TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, ARP, ICMP, TCP/UDP, and VPN technologies.
- Strong packet capture and protocol troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with Linux-based systems and troubleshooting tools.
- Excellent customer-facing communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Juniper MX, MPLS, L2/L3 VPNs, or SRX firewalls.
- Python, Perl, Shell, or network automation experience.
- JNCIP/JNCIE or CCNP/CCIE certifications.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.
