Detailed Job Description
As a Thermoforming Operator supporting advanced packaging manufacturing at Al Bayader International in Qatar, you will take full operational and technical ownership of thermoforming machine operations, sheet heating, mold clamping, trimming, and finished product quality. Your day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with mold changeovers, adjusting heating zone temperatures, monitoring vacuum and pressure forming parameters, inspecting formed containers for defects, and performing routine machine maintenance. You will utilize your proactive, hands-on technical skills to minimize scrap and maximize output.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and adjust automated thermoforming machines for plastic packaging container production in Qatar.
- Monitor heater temperatures, plug assist depths, vacuum pressures, and forming cycle timings during production runs.
- Inspect thermoformed output quality, sidewall thickness, trimming accuracy, stacking consistency, and container rigidity.
- Troubleshoot thermoforming process defects (e.g., webbing, thin corners, sagging sheets, warping) and execute corrective actions.
- Perform routine machine cleaning, blade maintenance in trim presses, and basic mechanical inspections.
- Maintain meticulous shift logs, raw material usage records, and scrap reports.
- Assist senior technicians and supervisors with mold changeovers and machine setups.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety guidelines, factory rules, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Technical Diploma or High School Diploma with specialized vocational training in plastics processing or mechanical technology.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive professional experience operating plastic thermoforming machines within the packaging manufacturing industry.
- Strong practical hands-on expertise in roll-fed thermoforming machines and inline trim presses.
- In-depth knowledge of thermoplastic thermoforming sheet materials (PET, PP, PS) and polymer thermal behavior.
- Good mechanical aptitude and familiarity with precision measuring instruments.
- Mandatory legal work eligibility in Qatar with local residency and availability for on-site operations in Qatar.
- Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking capabilities in fast-paced industrial environments.
- High professional accountability, attention to safety protocols, and dedication to minimizing scrap rates.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Prior professional working experience in packaging manufacturing plants in the GCC region.
- Familiarity with automated stacking and counting units.
- Understanding of quality control procedures in manufacturing.
- Flexibility to work in rotating shift patterns.
