Controller

We are seeking a hands-on, operationally minded Controller to lead the accounting function while remaining actively involved in the day-to-day details. This individual will own the full accounting cycle, financial reporting, month-end close, and inventory accounting while overseeing the Senior Accountant and Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable functions.

The Controller will also play a key role in improving processes and identifying opportunities to leverage automation, technology, and AI tools to create efficiencies across the accounting function.

This position requires up to 25% travel .

Key Responsibilities

• Own the full-cycle accounting function , including general ledger, journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements , including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reporting.
• Manage inventory accounting , reconciliations, and related processes.
• Remain hands-on and involved in the day-to-day accounting activities and problem-solving.
• Oversee, mentor, and develop the Senior Accountant and Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable functions.
• Identify inefficiencies and lead process improvement initiatives across the accounting function.
• Evaluate and implement automation and AI tools to streamline manual processes, improve reporting, enhance data analysis, and increase efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to leverage technology to improve reconciliations, reporting, workflows, and the month-end close process.
• Partner with operational leadership to provide financial insight and support business decisions.
• Support annual audits and other reporting requirements.
• Travel to company locations as needed, up to 25% .

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Progressive accounting experience with strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting .
• Prior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar accounting leadership role.
• Strong experience with month-end close, financial statement preparation, general ledger accounting, and reconciliations .
• Experience with inventory accounting .
• Previous experience managing and developing accounting professionals.
• Demonstrated success identifying and implementing process improvements .
• Interest in leveraging AI, automation, and technology to improve accounting processes and efficiency.
• Strong systems aptitude and a continuous-improvement mindset.
• Ability to operate as both a hands-on accountant and a leader .
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to travel up to 25% .
