Data Engineer
Dubai
About the Role
Join a data team at the heart of a major enterprise's digital transformation, building the pipelines that power decision-making across the business. This is a hands-on engineering role with real scope to shape how data flows through a growing platform, not just maintain what's already there.
Responsibilities
- Build, test, and optimize data pipelines on Databricks and Azure, covering ingestion through to transformation
- Write production-grade SQL and Python for data transformation, modeling, and automation
- Work within a modern Bronze/Silver/Gold (medallion) architecture, contributing to how it evolves
- Own your pipelines end to end: build, monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues as they arise
- Collaborate closely with the wider data team on ingestion from core business systems into the central platform
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience with Databricks and Azure, ideally including Delta Lake, Azure Data Factory, or similar tools
- Strong SQL and Python skills, with real pipeline-building experience, not just querying or reporting
- Comfortable working within an established architecture, while still bringing your own ideas to how it's built
- A builder's mindset: you want to own your work end to end, not just maintain someone else's
Not a fit if
- Your experience is analyst-only (dashboards and reporting) rather than pipeline engineering
- You've only worked with Databricks or Azure in a supporting or observational capacity
