Project Director

Job Description Overview

At AtkinsRéalis we are seeking an experienced Project Director with a strong background in rail infrastructure. This role requires a forward-thinking leader with over 20 years of experience managing large multi-disciplinary teams on complex construction projects.

Your role

• Lead plan and direct multidisciplinary teams in the successful delivery of rail projects.


• Manage all aspects of project execution including safety quality schedule and cost control ensuring alignment with client objectives.


• Build and maintain long-term relationships with key stakeholders and clients enhancing AtkinsRéalis reputation and identifying new business opportunities.


• Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.


• Oversee the coordination and management of large-scale infrastructure projects focusing on public realm enabling works and building assets.


• Ensure resource allocation meets current and future project demands maximizing operational efficiency.


• Ensure the highest standards of Health & Safety on all construction activities.

About you

Skills Required

• Degree-qualified in engineering or a related field (BSc BEng BA or equivalent); Chartered status preferred.


• 20 years of experience in construction with at least 7 years in roles similar to this focused on /building projects.


• Expertise in managing large-scale complex construction operations particularly within the rail sector.


• Strong communication and reporting skills capable of engaging with senior executives and managing client expectations.


• Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.


• Experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder relationships.


• A deep understanding of construction techniques project controls and safety management.
