Consumer Direct Loan Officer

Job descriptionDoes This Sound Like You?

• Do you thrive in a phone-first environment and love converting a conversation into a closed loan?
• Are you ready to stop spending your best hours prospecting and start spending them helping clients?
• Are you looking for a platform with real infrastructure, real leads, and a real career path?

If you answered yes, keep reading.

At Griffin Funding, we believe every borrower deserves a true fiduciary. We are a national direct lender specializing in Non-QM (DSCR, Bank Statement, 5–10 Unit), VA, and HELOAN products, with access to Conventional, Jumbo, FHA, USDA, 2nds, and more.

We are a consumer direct mortgage company. We invest heavily in marketing and technology so our Loan Officers spend their time consulting and closing, not cold prospecting. Our San Diego team is based in our Banker Hill office, located next to Balboa Park. We are growing and profiting in a market where others are struggling.

Our 5-star client reviews and 2021 Inc. Best Places to Work recognition reflect a culture built on accountability, collaboration, and genuine care for clients and teammates alike.

Why Griffin is Different

We invest heavily in Google SEO and PPC to generate high-intent, first-party inbound leads managed through HubSpot. A dedicated operations and underwriting team handles conditions and loan progression — you are not stuck chasing paperwork. This lets you focus where it matters most: working with clients and closing deals.

• More time advising clients, less time prospecting
• Consistent pipeline of inbound and outbound opportunities
• Proven systems and support to drive steady deal flow

What You'll Do

• Engage with inbound inquiries and follow up diligently via phone, voicemail, text, and email
• Consult with clients to understand their financial situation and recommend the right loan product
• Guide clients through the full origination process with clear communication and consistent follow-through
• Maintain accurate CRM activity in HubSpot and manage your pipeline with discipline
• Earn 5-star reviews as a standard part of every closed transaction

Onboarding, Training & Career Path

New Loan Officers complete a structured first month of onboarding and Griffin Funding University (GFU) , including a final assessment. A 90-day probationary period includes regular coaching and clear performance expectations.

Loan Officers who consistently exceed funding standards will be reviewed for promotion to Senior Loan Officer (at the discretion of the VP of Production), unlocking past client leads, Chili Piper appointments, direct ISA transfers, and priority inbound ring group placement.

Compensation & Benefits

• Full-time hourly position structured as a draw against commissions; commissions paid once they exceed the draw
• Earning potential: $150,000–$300,000+ for high performers
• Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance | Paid Time Off
• In-house processing and underwriting support
• Company-provided Google SEO and PPC leads via HubSpot
• Licensing support across 47 states + all 50 states for DSCR/BPL loans

Job requirementsWhat We're Looking For

Experience & Requirements:

• NMLS License required (no license required for Business Purpose/DSCR loans)
• Must pass background check

The Right Fit:

• Phone-first mentality with urgency, consistency, and strong follow-up habits
• Financially sharp — comfortable with debt ratios, credit analysis, and a wide product menu

• Committed to a 5-star client experience as a non-negotiable standard

Not the Right Fit If You:

• Avoid high call volume or prefer passive communication styles
